BernieVtuber seems to have it right (and apparently liked by the screenshotter).
Trying to bring positive attention to yourself can also bring negative attention from the envious, potential competitors, or those who dislike your taste. Lend in a culture that encourages conflict/competition and a wide variety of tastes, and you end up with several people who will want you to conform to the norm.
