The whole thing is completely lacking of any information.
Meghan Murphy, TERF, left Canada for Mexico 4 years ago due to COVID tyranny.
She now registered to run in Vancouver East for the PPC.
She claims the bank has put a hold on her account for a week plus, the same day she publicly announced her PPC candidacy. She is still outside of Canada. She subsequently canceled a repatriation flight to Vancouver to campaign on account of the account.
She claims she has received no correspondence from either her Vancity credit union or the government re: her account closure. The bank made vague allusions to "the government" being responsible. She called several civil servant numbers, but got nowhere.
Reading the comments, she has personally fundraised off this story (not for her campaign, but for her own work AFAICT).
The whole thing seems kind of fishy on Murphy's part. I doubt she's a relevant enough figure to be specifically targeted with financial sanctions like this. There is surely some other explanation.
There has been lots of debanking post-convoy in 2022, but it was mostly initiated at least on its face by the financial institution itself sending correspondence that "we no longer wish to do business with you as an institution, your access to services will end on X date".
I recall Scotiabank doing it to Jeremy MacKenzie of Diagolon a year or two back, essentially canceling his mortgage agreement.
