What exact "systems that protect us" are we destroying here? Strange how these arguments are always so suspiciously vague. It reminds me of their sanctimony over book burnings in the 1930s. What books you say? Pay no mind to that.
They're referring, of course, to Our Democracy™, by which they really mean the bureaucracy that funnels them our tax dollars.

I protect myself. The government has not and can not do this job. They've even gone to court to ensure that legally, they actually have zero requirement to do that job, they have no standard of duty or care owed to you.
What he means is "systems that control us." He like those because they happen to be on "his side" today. The moment the calculus changes he'll be a full throated defender of terrorism.
