So if we import a bunch of stuff from a country but they don't import as much from us, we're now charging them a tariff.

That doesn't seem right. What if we don't make anything they want or need?

There's also the issue of scale.

What if a country like Canada has a tenth of your population?

They are still expected to import/consume 10× more than the population south of the border?

Nothing about these tariffs makes any sense, even to Trump supporters. All countries, without exception, are getting a 10% minimum tariff. No exceptions. Doesn't matter if you've been a great trade partner, Trump says "Fuck you, pay me!"
