Many modern Christians fail to understand that we can forgive someone's sins, but still allow and condone the state to punish them for their crimes. That's not hypocrisy. It's how we're commanded to set up our nations, with the right hand of God (the church) overseeing matters of faith, and the left hand of God (the earthly authorities, the government) enacting justice on earth.
The father's statement about "woe to the black for being in prison" is severe racial cuckoldry. God never, ever intended for us to let our enemies walk all over us in perpetuity, letting them kill us and everyone we love, with no recourse or action to stop it. If we let evil trample upon our loved ones, that is a direct contradiction to the commandment to "love thy neighbor".
