I just saw a commercial about how women who fish are more confident than non-fishers
posted 3 months ago by Mpetey123 3 months ago by Mpetey123 +48 / -2

Is there anything these people don't invade? We have people advocating for women to fish?

Women People fishing having a hobby they enjoy, and being out in nature, lead to good outcomes?

It's obvious but, like OP, I have two issues with this. The focus on women...and that's it's a commercial.

Just let people do what they want. If women want to fish...they can fish. They don't need advertisers to tell them to.

OP, I'm curious, who was the ad from, and where did you see it? TV? Radio? Was it a company, sporting goods or something? Or some gay government Ad Council nonsense?

Also, can you imagine the outrage if you made other true statements about women? "Nuclear families, good marriages, and raising children make women happy," or "Limiting social media use may increase happiness for women," or just "Embracing traditional gender roles my increase happiness, for both men and women."

I was flipping between channels. I tried finding the commercial on YouTube but couldn't. Here's the people who made the commercial.

Dang. For the most part, that seems pretty darn wholesome. Shame about the pushing of DEI and identity politics.

There's some focus on family, but it's mostly got the corporate photos of mixed-race couples and stuff too.

Can't the fishing just be about fishing?! Sell it on it being a good hobby (sure, even say anyone can do it), or a good family activity, or something.

I could be a little over sensitive with the women being infused into everything. I'm tired of seeing boys suffer and constantly told they are the problem. While girls are always uplifted and given resources boys don't have access to.

I could be a little over sensitive...

You probably are. We all probably are, because we pay attention to this and pick up on it.

You're also not wrong in this case, though. Even putting the ad aside...I wouldn't be shocked to learn that organization is heavily female-led. It's all pictures of women fishing and stuff. Of course women fish, but that level of focus is deliberate. So, you might be hyper tuned on the issue, but you're not wrong here; this is some serious gynocentrism going on.

I'm tired of seeing boys suffer and constantly told they are the problem. While girls are always uplifted and given resources boys don't have access to.

Same. And not just any resources, either, but the ones boys used to have, and their hobbies. Which would be fine - and even often welcomed - if it was natural, but the intentionality of injecting females into male spaces is a slap in the face.

Also, like with any DEI push, the deliberate focus drives down quality. A woman who genuinely likes to fish? Probably a really cool person. A woman who wants to fish because it's new, hip, and it's sticking it to the patriarchy? Likely insufferable and, if not, likely so normie they'll be pushing for "changes" to the hobby in a couple years, after they reach critical mass.

Just let people do what they want! Women can fish! Just stop ruining everything! REEEEEE.

It's more about invading men's spaces.
