With KCD2 and AC Shadows both promoting wildly inappropriate gay romance options, I’m wondering if we’ve reached a point where the gay is essentially mandatory in modern AAA western game dev? Are we going to see any strictly heterosexual player romances in any of these games going forward?
I didn’t buy AC Shadows because I don’t have brain damage. Asscreed games have been complete slop for like a decade, so no big loss when they decided to pozz the shit out of the latest entry. But KCD2 is a game I absolutely would have supported if not for the gay pozz. I’m never buying that shit regardless of discount, and that’s fine by me. Fuck ‘em.
I guess I’m curious to find out whether or not virtually all AAA western (story-based) games will be non-starters at conception going forward. If the gay is mandatory from here on out, I’m literally never buying another AAA western story-based game ever again. That’s probably not a bad thing anyways, but it still feels strange after decades of supporting this industry.
I say in the first Mass Effect, any romance you have with Kaiden or Ashley should have ended disastrously at Virmire. Either because you didn't rescue your love interest, in which case they die, or you do and highlight precisely why a captain should not be fucking around with his subordinates, prompting the survivor to break up with you once their guilt kicks in. It would have highlighted that this is not the kind of story or setting where that kind of behavior is acceptable, and better yet, turned off the kind of "gamers" who obsess over that shit, and kept them from buying the sequels (and subsequently infecting them). But of course, Bioware's writers would never do anything to alienate them. Or seriously think about the ramifications of a commanding officer having an affair with members of the crew.
Imagine if Mordin didn’t completely change his mind on the Krogan or if the Space bug monsters that everyone told you we’re dangerous and had to be wiped out came back as evil bug monsters making paragon Shepard look like an arrogant moron.
Indeed, the implicit bias towards the Paragon path (and all that went with it, most notably the support for
the globalist agendaCitadel rule over humanity) was another huge problem with Mass Effect since the very beginning.
