Fixed it. You've already got movements in at least four of the highlighted states trying to either break away or at least diminish the massive power a few cities have over the whole state, and you're telling them "we're forcibly dragging you into a country that is orders of magnitude closer to your fascist boogeyman than the US is"? That's not going to end well.
This was my first thought, too. Leftists are so blinded with ignorance about the makeup of the US that they think they own the whole state. Jefferon or Greater Idaho would emerge before they would leave the US for Canada.
it's worse than that, they don't think the people living in rural areas matter. half their bitch about the electoral college is that their heavily populated hellholes have to be ruled by "empty tracks of land." (paraphrasing) in montana.
