Movies have done poorly for years but somehow now it’s review bombing and toxicity. They can’t accept they made a movie people don’t want and the lead can’t shut up

The problem is they refuse to make movies with good writing. It's all about diversity instead.

Precisely why my rule of thumb is not to watch anything made after 2014 unless I get a recommendation from a trusted source

Dude, me and you have the same cut-off year!

That's my cutoff year in theory, but in practice I pretty much only ever watch things from like 2005 and earlier.

Late 60s to the end of the 90s is my Goldilocks zone and it's rare I watch something else.

So many great films from that era that I haven't seen yet.

Same here. In my area there are quite a few free over the air digital channels that show nothing but older shows. Lot of good movies prior to 60s as well. A great thing about the free streaming services is that they have a good library of old content.
