I shudder to think what shape the world would be in now if things had gone as smoothly as the Left had wanted them to.
Well, then again, if things were to go as smoothly as the Left wants them to, the world would be literally frictionless.
If things went as smoothly as the left expects them to, their ideas wouldn't be utopian...
