Without the media, you think anyone would care much about Orange Man, for example?
I recently encountered someone with severe TDS. It was quite shocking, because he's normally rational. I'm not sure how to handle that. Grumbling about Trump being stupid or bad, that is easy enough to parry, but full-on derangement?
That said, I also think that the attacks on the Orange Man has helped solidify our support for him. It is said, I don't know if it's true, that the American communists had new recruits hand out flyers in very anti-communist areas. This so that they would be attacked, and this would in turn solidify their commitment to the group. It creates assibiya.
People will always cheer on visible people at the top of their field
But Taylor Swift is a stupid whore. People don't know the leading US physicist, let alone cheering him.
And I'm only half kidding. Keeping the people docile really does also give those in control the power to dictate what technologies are recognized and which aren't allowed to exist.
The sad part is, I'm not sure there's a way to. I certainly don't know it. TDS is a hell of a drug. They've Someone has made up their mind for them, and it's hard to talk them out of it.

Well, yeah, some fields are more visible than others, and that's its own issue.

I'm gonna use the strategy of trying to get them to admit that Trump is not 100%, completely bad. Wasn't it badass how he got up after getting shot? Or maybe I'll use some reverse psychology by criticizing him for calling for the impeachment of Bush.
One thing pro-Trump don't like is when I actually unironically criticize him for sending lethal weapons to Ukraine when Obama rightly and wisely refused.

I once had TDS. I can sort of see if from their perspective when I force the Gestalt switch. Imagine for a moment that all the anti-Trump smears are not smears by a terrified establishment, but The Absolute Truth because it's something bad about a Bad Guy. Also, they have no idea about anything good (like him opposing/only tepidly supporting the Iraq War, being anti-war), and the fact that Dick Cheney loves his opponent is not because he's a good guy, but because he's so evil that he's even too evil for Dick Cheney.
Although I must admit that I got annoyed by anti-Trump 'news' even when I hated him, because I saw an agenda there. Surely, it isn't the case that the 'news' every day is something bad about Trump. It would be a bit odd.

Panem et circensis?
