He might not have been out of line if and only if a) a deal hadn't already been signed, b) he wasn't a vassal talking to his overlord.

Media who then went on to interview Zelensky, who was visibly uncomfortable at their questions made with ''Orange man bad, right?''

Yeah, this is the last thing Zelensky would actually want the media to have done at that moment.
