If they were smart, they would just cancel it but it is typical of western companies to double down on stupid.
eh, they really can't this far into the project, there's too much money tied up in it. they've got to forge ahead and hope they can find a window where it can sell enough copies to at least make some of the money back.
a bad release is better than no release at all.
Concord begs to differ, but that's the utmost 1% of woke retardery.
The cynic in me says that, even there-- the 'right' people drew paychecks from Sony, therefore Concord succeeded as a money laundering operation even while failing as a video game
Sega also did with Hyenas and that was like a few days right before release.
There is a point where canceling your marketing budget to reclaim it can make more than a woke flop will earn... #justsaying
I'm sure the execs were happy to get some of the company's money back on concord, even if it was precious little, lol.
wouldn't shock me. they sure rubbed it in the faces of us evil racist, mysogynist fascists that... <checks notes> didn't actually buy the game....
They didn't get any money back for Concord. They gave a refund to anyone who bought it, just so they could write it off as a complete loss on their taxes.
Concord pushed the Sunken Cost Fallacy for 2 weeks before firing everyone, refunding all player and shutting down the game.
Not releasing it would have saved money.
Believe it or not, they had a dev team for Concord expansions / seasons.
