They did not disarm the populace its the complete opposite. Nazi Germany had less strict gun laws than Weimar Germany did.
And Imperial Japan also had less strict gun laws than modern Japan too btw. The allies were the ones who forced gun laws on Japan.
To be fair...everyone has less strict gun laws than modern Japan.
so long as you agreed with the government. if you were a dissident, your guns were taken away.
