I've experienced this kind of thing before. These sorts of people never think to ask themselves if the people opposed to them believe in what they are doing just as much as they do themselves.

They are so wrapped up in their virtue affirmation that the motivations of their opponents never even enter their minds. It can't, because to the Anointed, those opposing them are evil, and no one tries to understand evil people...
