The Mexicans didn't want them to pass through either. They have their own "deep state" problem that they are trying to get rid of also. The Mexican government uses the cartels as their "red guard" or " brown shirts". If Trump can do something about the cartels, most Mexicans will go home and take back control of their country
Considering they released that big article a few weeks ago crying about 2000 whole immigrants ruining their streets and city by hanging around, I'm not gonna buy they didn't notice tens of millions coming through over the years nor that they gave a single shit about the problem since it wasn't in their backyard.
Which means they chose to do nothing about the problem, which is fine because what can you do, but now they want to complain about the problem making them look bad?
lol. This is the same mindset that "Mexicans are actually super Conservative and Christian, they won't vote for anything Left wing!" They have shown that by the millions they will vote for and support short term, free money solutions and happily toss away any principle or belief they have for it.
They aren't some super based, oppressed group that needs liberating to become Our Great Ally. They've shown time and time again to be the architects of their own failings and will need to be dragged into improving their own lot in life.
Which, again, at that point I'd rather just empty their entire nation of them and claim it as new land for America.
Mexico City runs the politics of the nation much the same way as big liberal cities run otherwise conservative states. The Mexicans in the rural parts are very conservative and fit in quite well. They warned me about the Venezuelans years ago. Back in the Obama years they showed me a video of immigrants from central America that rejected the food they offered to them because it was a plate of beans. The central Americans knocked the plate out of the lady's hand and said it was food for pigs and they wanted beef. The riff between Mexican and those from further south goes back many years. Try watching some videos in Spanish from Mexico and you will see they are just as pissed as we are about the globalist agenda. With the censorship money getting pinched, you might see a reality that has been hidden from us.
That's all well and good, but by your own admission one of the most important take aways from interviewing them was "it'll make us look better!" They don't care about us in the slightest, even now you are going with "we hate them too" which means they have even more reason to push them North out of their country.
We are passed the point of "empathize with me because I'm kinda like you." They let these monsters pass into my country to destroy it in ways too numerous to count and that can't be just tossed aside because they were scared or just following orders or oppressed. They contributed to that globalist agenda by being passive, just the same as most of them profited off it through remittance.
Fuck them and their whole nation, period. If they want that position to change then they need to rise up on their own as that show of faith. Not when we twist their arm, like the tariffs did, but on their own as proof they actually give a shit.
