Cooking shows are entertainment, the “competitive” ones are more reality tv than competitive. That’s why it’s a ~30 min timer with random “modifiers” it’s performative to make a show, not see who’s actually a better cook. Now that being said I’m sure all the champions are highly skilled and successful chefs, but any of them would have never won doing a real cooking competition like the original Iron Chef with Morimoto. For anyone interested the OG Iron Chef is on Prime and Morimoto is just a monster.
At that point you aren't being judged on taste as you've already maxed out enough to be relatively equal across all the dishes.
So they are winning based on sob stories, presentation, and artistic setup. AKA all manipulation tactics to play to the judges emotions.
It makes absolute sense that women would win that organically. Even if, like all reality TV competitions, these people have zero functional ability to create reliably outside such competition.
The first 2-3 seasons of British Bake Off is quite good. That's because the hosts specifically stopped the cameramen and editors from doing what they usually do with shows like this.
If someone needed a moment, they swore up a storm next to them so it couldn't be used.
Is it actually representative of like the cooking world or is it just the same like 7 “celebrity l” chefs competing against each other every time though?

I don't doubt the winners are good chefs. I just don't believe women have organically won five times in a row.

Prime? Fuck that, it's on Roku TV, which you don't have to subscribe for.
And Sakai > Morimoto.
Proof that women belong in the kitchen.
Quick, bring out the equations that show that barefoot and pregnant enhance their cooking power!

The only "real" tv chef competition was the original Japanese iron chef. One woman ever won and it was really a gimmick for another tv personality.
There was a restaurant in Japan for that show. The food was great.

There are I think 32 chefs on TOC. They are all Food Network stars though.
