in animal crossing you used to be able to tan your character by staying in the sun for a while, https://animalcrossing.fandom.com/wiki/Tan but now the option is gone and replaced with choosing your skin color at the beginning of the game just so they can cater to blacks.

People in white countries court skin cancer by tanning in order to make it appear like they have leisure time.
People in dark countries court skin cancer by using skin whitener to make it appear that they don't work out in the fields.
