I find it disconcerting that even people on our side can conjure up entirely new policy positions from thin air based on a few Drumpf tweets.
Fair enough, there's some stuff that's come out of thin air, but from what I've read so far the northern border seems to have legitimate problems.
I concede there probably is.
But Trump has replied himself that the tariffs aren't actually about fentanyl or illegal immigration, but about annexation.
He also hasn't publicly provided definitive targets to be met re: negotiations to end this retarded drama.
It's just so blackpilling to realize that both your enemies and your supposed kin on either side of the border are mostly easily triggered NPCs that can be activated by a few tweets, positive or negatively.
I agree that it's bizarre to see the MAGA influencer crowd march in lockstep towards Canada and Greenland. Especially the immediate switch to military dick measuring. A lot of it is grifting, but Trump is also has a genius knowledge of his audience and I think he sensed this is a wave he can ride.
I don't think Trump actually wants to absorb Canada, though. If that turns out to be the case it would be more alarming, but in my opinion this is a business negotiation ploy that he's used many times before. The example I always go to is that he called Ben Carson a dangerous maniac but later invited him to join his cabinet.
