I think the thing that annoys me most about Matt Walsh is that he's NOT a boomer, yet all he spouts are boomercon talking points. He knows about the power of media and cultural influence, otherwise he wouldn't be on the internet. He's just a disingenous grifter.
People like him are the reason why conservatives have been culturally irrelevant for the past 70+ years.
You think the opinions he espouses are not his own, but only things he says to get watchers/money?
I think this is his sincere opinion on cartoons. I also think it's a silly opinion and the sort of attitude that got the right-wing to lose the culture war decades ago.
And if the right has made modest gains in the past 10 to 15 years, it's because a new generation learned ''how to culture'' again.
I think he does believe those things, but he's also definitely exaggerating for attention. Like I said, he understands the value of media in shaping the culture, yet he's saying that conservatives should just completely ignore anime and videogames and only devote their time to 'manly' pastimes or whatever. I don't buy it.
