Allegedly 'woke is dying' with all the corpos ditching DIE and paying tribute to Trump. I think this is hopium and woke is only being paused. Unless woke is thrown out of a helicopter, its going to keep coming back like an infection.
Idk if companies are virtue signalling about dumping DIE. They are still souless and I will still be boycotting their junk.
I'm still not going to buy a AAA game in the foreseeable future. This is an easy boycott due to my steam backlog and based indie devs existing. Even a $5 AAA sale is too much of my money to waste on people that want me dead. I'm not sorry to say that I take pleasure in woke game developers getting fired in mass. Again, these are people that want me dead.
I'll still keep checking grocery store products. If I see a P&G, Unilever, etc logo on it, back on the shelf it goes. I'll still keep driving by goyslop vendors such as McDonalds, Burger King, Popeyes, etc.
My boycotts are not just petty activism. I see them as improving myself. Boycotting AAA games prevents my mind from being poisoned and boycotting goyslop and woke products keeps my body from being poisoned.
Seethe and lose sales corpos, you don't fool me.
I'm willing to EVENTUALLY give up the boycotts. Once it's clear that this is an actual cultural change, and not just a pithy platitude. Once we see a cultural change that is reflected in the workers themselves, then there might be a change in what I do or rather do not buy. But until that is beyond clear, nothing is changing any time soon.
My perspective is companies don't make decisions, people do, and the people making the decisions need to suffer personal consequences before I'm willing to call the score settled. ESG bullshit was pushed from the top down and the people at the top won't suffer any serious consequences until the entire company is essentially ruined.
Hurting a company's bottom line a little is just squeezing the poor bastards at the bottom, just hurting them a little and stopping is the worst outcome, if you're gonna do it you have to finish the job clean.
Which is why I said that there needs to be a change in people and their behaviours. And I said workers, but I should have said everyone within the company. Because I do believe that some people (emphasis some) are capable of change. But seeing that change is important. I don't care about being told they've changed, it needs to actually be seen. Money where their mouth is, ya know? Once that's happening, maybe we can revisit the idea of ending a boycott, but not a minute sooner.
Sure people can change, but committing an offense and "changing" without paying penance isn't good enough. That just incentivizes being opportunistic two-faced fairweather cheating.
They have to actually pay a personal price to incentivize having actual integrity. Being "CEO of a company that burned to the ground" is way more likely to tank their career and ability to hop around than just being "ex-CEO of a company that is doing fine now."
If the same CEO, COO, CFO, or CHRO is present, any of the four, then there has been no change. A company is a modular entity, if its component parts are tainted, it can throw them up and find new ones. If it has the same Chair of the Board, same deal.
New Chair, new C-suite, ideally a mostly new Board of Directors in general. Then you can say the winds are shifting. If someone goes on record saying they hate you and want you and your kin gone, expunged from the world... That's a mighty strong sentiment, and them saying "that was so 6 weeks ago, trade winds change, buddy! We're cool with you now!" doesn't clear that statement.
