If you factor in cheap mobile games for the Chinese market, then yes, the industry will grow. But the article right above this one on this website talks about another wave of layoffs at Microsoft, including their game studio. Western devs are living in a fantasy world if they think they can turn this around in a few months while they continue to churn out unfinished woke garbage.
AAA gaming will sink, mobile gacha games will continue printing money, and it will keep going that way until Western developers build a farm system to develop guys who can draw attractive women again.
It's not just the aesthetics they need to fix. We've had a generation of open world crafting rubbish and similar lazy stagnation in other genres. We need to cultivate the talent that can build good gameplay loops as well.
I think you guys forget that many people, especially those in the industry include mobile gaming in 'games industry' as a whole. Personally I don't, but that shit absolutely PRINTS money and has never slowed down, at least not that I am aware of.
I don't think mobile gaming is slowing down, and the slop releases constantly with an insane amount of monetization. So I don't think they would be wrong, at least from that perspective.
Now actual gaming I totally agree, they are a bunch of delusional retards but we all knew that already.
It's possible when you consider that "game industry investments dropped by approximately 50% and layoffs reached record levels."
As the saying goes, "once you hit rock bottom, the only to go is up." Right?
If this is rock bottom, I'd hate to see what happens when we're in an Official™ recession.
Well now that there's an American in office I expect they'll wheel that label back out in order to make him look bad.
Hopefully it works. There hasnt been a pepe from him about ending H1Bs, deporting illegs, or anything that would actually help us.
That’s indicative of Western triple A failures. Double A, Indie, and triple A Asian are going to explode this year.
Its the investor hype bust cycle.
I mean they MAY be right, it just won't be THEIR studios growing.
Like I don't expect Witcher 4 to be good but looking forward to that Vampire game from the Ex Devs at Rebel Wolves.

I don't get it; who doesn't want to spend $70 on a mediocre game with development costing six years and $200M? Am I so out of touch?...
...No. It's the gamers who are wrong. /s
So only 23% have updated their resumes to get ready for the next wave of layoffs?

There have been so few games that I've enjoyed recently from big studios. I can't even remember the last time I enjoyed playing anything AAA.
I think the latest game I bought outside of a big studio that I enjoyed was Infernax.
It's not that difficult, but it's fun. Lasts about 5 hours or so. More if you want to get the multiple endings.
I play mostly indie games. Lots of them developed by non-American companies (go figure).
