There are several rules I would break if I described what should happen to the people responsible for the amount of suffering forced upon America because of these policies.
It's amazing how you can dismantle people's lives if you utter the magic words, "but virus!" It was not surprising, though. This was the outcome the I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE crowd was trained for.
It was the useful idiot supporters that really got me. I had a family member almost die because they didn't get to do their regular medical checkups (as the hospitals were absolutely cooked from these retard decisions), instead relying on 'telehealth'.
Several normal people in the intervening years have defended it (even though they also didn't like lockdowns and mandates) with shit like 'oh well it was tough for hospitals at the time'. I'm sitting here with an astounded look on my face from the level of stupid this takes to say.
We know they made shit up and just ran with it, it was their own fault, and it cost lives; but nah, apparently they're blameless according to most normies.
Maybe the disconnect is whether you blame the CDC/feds or the entire healthcare industry, including local hospitals.
It's not as clear whether industry professionals at large were forced into compliance or enthusiastic foot soldiers. Regardless, most of them failed to discharge their saintly duty of doing no harm and following the evidence instead of politics. All that glory they covered themselves with turned out to be pixie dust.
It was the entire industry, particularly the shithead managers of the 'local hospitals' (very few are not under large management corps nowadays) that are still doing shit like 'well we need everyone in the facility to be masked... for safety' that has no benefit.
I agree with you on the other point though, I just wish their pixie dust caught on fire.
Much of the industry is already brainwashed liberals, so very easy to reprogram into enthusiastic foot soldiers (I very much enjoy that term, by the way).
Additionally, the ~$38,000 payout per COVID death and countless other incentives (coersions, in some cases) was enough to get most "healthcare professionals" on board. The second they had this carrot dangled in front of them, they had no problem giving up their so-called "oath".
It sure made it easy to see what a scam it all is, "covid" aside.
If you live life as if there are no respiratory viruses, you'll sometimes get sick, and you'll live your life.
If you live your life to avoid all respiratory viruses, you'll sometimes get sick, and you'll have let your life pass unlived.
Best summary of why the 2 years of insanity government put us through were for absolutely nothing. Well except the power transfer to them, the WHO, and wealth transfer to a fringe minority of speculators and pharmaceutical companies.
President Biden's covid advisor, @ashishkjha, waited until Dec. 2022 (right after leaving government service) to tell the country that "[t]here is no study in the world that shows that masks work that well." What took him so long?

Obviously this guy is a political hack, but him putting that stupid aphorism front and center has me wondering if he even understands the function of his profession enough to lie about it.

If you dedicate your life to mitigating risks, then you haven't lived at all.
From October 25, but still worth noting.

Great start.
