He is just gonna fail sideways or fail upwards. He will find another job in another dev team. Hope these assholes dont infect non woke dev teams.
TL;DR: Devs have decided to make what they want to enforce, while I have decided to buy what I want to buy. These two things are very different. Maybe they'll understand some day.
There are already more games than I could ever play created before the year began with a 2. They're too late to sway opinions with their bullshit, especially when it's petty vengeful idiocy.
My issue is one of both gratitude, and one of caution.
Gratitude because now I know never to buy anything with his name attached to it. That should save some money.
But also caution.
A lot of people were really hoping for, as some have called it, Skyblivion. I know that's asking for the moon, but people were expecting that. Because everything we know about it so far it's basically a smaller scale Skyrim without dragons, if it had been done by Obsidian.
The pronouns are off putting to some because it seems nonsensical to them. But when you double down and claim your whole goal was to piss off people with the inclusion of them, it completely changes intent.
You go from trying to be helpful and inclusive to some, and be reactionary and offensive with it instead. Which proves you don't care at all about the thing you're adding unless it annoys certain people.
Which can be completely avoided by avoiding Avowed. (whew, that was hard to type with all them a words. Had to triple check spelling)
Case in point, Starfield has pronouns. Not exactly a great game, but the pronouns literally matter nothing outside of the character creator. They were an after thought, hoping to hit as many DEI points as possible.
It contributed nothing to the story or gameplay outside of character creation. Other than it's inclusion, it was a non issue. I didn't see any community managers or developers doubling down and attacking naysayers about it, but I did see journalists do it.
But when you attack me for not liking your idea, it's not going to make me, or other people for that matter, want to buy your game.
All that does is push people away, while earning nothing.
So yes, please, continue being the cautionary tale of showing people your hand while you play poker with them, I'm sure you'll win.
