It's the Netflix special. I didn't watch the first season, but some people seemed to like it, despite some race swapping and stuff. I'm assuming it was relatively decent, and apolitical. That's how they often operate in the first season of a new show. Then they hit you with full woke/communism/TDS in Season 2.
And with Stranger Things season 3 they were gonna have that guy and girl at ice cream shop be romantically involved which would’ve been an homage to the reformed jock and nerdy girl trope but they needed to subvert expectations and make her gay
Mauler is pretty well known to be a Leftist and he only ended being seen as more by people on the Right because his autism didn't let him get programmed towards slop as easily. Same with a lot of people on your list and the Fandom Menace as a whole.
Autism is right. Mauler went on an hours-long rant at Synthetic Man for calling God of War: Ragnarok woke and calling out Mauler for missing all the woke shit in it.
That's just one of the proofs that Mauler isn't anywhere near the Right. His criticisms over prior works were purely from an incompetence level, instead of a malicious one. You give him a high quality work without a historical or direct writing failure and he can't begin to discern the issues with it.

Its a real problem across all angles of our "side" where people assume that because someone fights one battle with you, they must be as "woke" to all the same things you are.

For Stranger Things, it was season 3. Little bit of girl power in the second, but the third was a mess.

Far worse, the actual horror in season 3 was awesome. Flesh monster, Soviet insanity, a disconnected people. Yeah, that was supposed to be amazing.
