It's also an important lesson about retaining personal control. If someone shows up at your house, says they have authority, says they won't steal/kill/rape/whatever your dog/child/squirrel/whatever, it's vitally important to realize that, as soon as you let them take the aforementioned creature, they can do whatever they want.

It sounds silly to say you should contemplate lethal force against these agents - and it certainly shouldn't be your immediate go to - but it's incredibly important to realize that, well, that's your chance. That's the line in the sand. That's your hill. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it isn't, but once they walk out the door with whatever it is they took...you lost.

Yeah, you might end up dead or in prison but if they're going to take your pets or children away then it's time to fight and damn the consequences.

It's like being kidnapped at gunpoint. If you fight back, they might shoot you. If you go with them, they will almost certainly take you to where there are no witnesses and shoot you.

This is also true of your own person, not just a child or animal.
