It only needs bought once, cracked, then distributed on the high seas for widespread use. Wishful thinking the numbers are going to be that low, but still.
If a game isn't worth paying for, it certainly isn't worth to be played at all. Personally I value my free time higher than my money.
Yeah, this. Even ignoring any number of IRL things to do, there's a good amount of decent to good stuff still coming out, plus massive back-catalogues of good games. There's no need to pirate stuff. If you're going to do modding (which I do) take something good and make it great, don't waste your time pirating something bad to make it mediocre.
sorry if I'm wrong (I stopped caring about new games for a good while now) is it not true that cracking games is basically over now? last time I cared about this stuff, Denuvo was everywhere and most games remained uncracked months or years later.
Actually, no. Piracy is still alive and kicking, it just does not get talked about much (probably for fear of Streissand effect).
The only issue are denuvo games since most will not get cracked for a while. Aside from that, every other game is typically released day one on reputable sites.
We're hitting a years long stretch of basically zero cracks for denuvo games. The skillset is super niche, the process is arduous and the few people willing and able to do it have been threatened or paid off successfully. If they keep this track record up we're going to see a lot more games saddling us with that shit. I really hope something big changes there soon.
that's quite a jump from "piracy still exists, people just don't talk about it". I think it's fair to say that the combination of
...has basically killed piracy. for the genres I do care about, I don't see people talking about piracy, ever, except maybe DLC cracking.
