I sorted the list by "top sellers" and didn't see anything good.
Don't really know much about game engines, but I've at least heard of Subnautica and that's using Unity.
Again, as someone who has been going really hard on Godot since this drama kicked off, I will still not hear this slander, REEEEE! Joking, of course.
But you can make good games in Godot. Brotato and Halls of Torment are both pretty big games made in Godot. Slay the Spire 2 will be made in Godot. That should be interesting, to see what they can do.
Dome Keeper, Luck be a Landlord, and many more, as well.
The other thing to realize is, Godot is a little bit more niche, so even some of the best sellers are going to be made by very small - often even just one-person - teams. That's not going to be as technically impressive as bigger indies, AAs, AAAs, etc. That has nothing to do with the engine, though.
All the more reason to take a based fork of Godot and release a more successful game than anyone ever has. Their community would seethe.
Yup.
That is one upside. This is just making me more motivated to spend some more of my free time working on game development, which I admittedly haven't been doing as much as I would like.
Spite is an excellent motivator.
Brotato is possibly the best reverse-bullet-hell game I've played. Our family liked to sit down and pass the controller around playing it, and the latest beta version added an outright co-op mode so we can play together. It is entirely too fun, and simple enough the youngest can play too. All he has to do is move the potato around the screen trying not to get hit, and we can help him with the in between part where you have to read. It is stupid simple fun.
If you like roguelikes, Path of Achra is a very good one focused on tactics and building your character, also made with wokedot.
Brotato is sick.
Although not as simple or child-friendly, if you feel like it for yourself, check out Death Must Die, and 20 Minutes Till Dawn, some of my favorites in the genre.
I'll definitely check out Path of Achra.
I played Slay the Spire on game pass when I had a free month. It was okay, was going to buy it as a gift but found out the dev is super woke.
So now it makes sense they/them would pick Godot for future games.
