While its fun to dunk on, and its all deserved, the bandwagon train against this game means that now we have reached the "exaggerate or make up something to clickbait our name into the algorithm with this." Triple especially if the "shocking revelation" comes from an unnamed source that reached out directly to only the guy reporting it.
Not to say this isn't true, because I have no reason to think it isn't, but its something to keep in mind about all these big numbers and conversations.
the lowest confirmed number was in a sony securities doc and said it was over $200m. but that was only a partial of production costs, just what they spent buying the studio a while back, didn't include marketing, server scale-up, and some other expenses.
shit like this is just embezzlement though. that flaming dumpster fire was not worth $200m. even if they swapped out the characters to be normal, it's still not even worth $1m.
That also doesn't include the fluffing up of numbers for tax purposes and all the other fun forms of Hollywood Accounting this country uses.
I truly doubt Sony lost 400m or whatever on this. On paper they might claim such, but in reality its likely a fraction of that and the money is just magically gone and used so it can't be used against them.
then another leak came out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAcmrjguf8M. more and more are coming out saying that they knew it was going to be a massive fucking failure... but no one internally could say anything bad about the game or suggest changes to fix the obvious problems, because everyone internal who didn't worship the game would be referred to HR, fired, and blacklisted for bigotry. it's the same shit where saying anything bad about obama/hillary/kamala, no matter how true, makes you racist/sexist/homophobic. this shit can survive inside blackrock captured companies when grifters in management are embezzling investor cash, but it can't make people buy the game/movie/whatever.
the "if you don't give us money, you're racist/sexist/homophobic" grift is dying.

oof, someone posted a video of the credits scroll... it's literally over an hour long. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_bjf6tHxRg. far too many people on this project.

That was why I said "reportedly".
I know, it wasn't accusatory. Simply a consideration for people to keep in mind.
Because much like the word "allegedly," people skip over it in their brains and just roll with anything they read on its face value.
I wasn't trying to imply that you were. Just that I agree with you and took it into account.
