It's a cargo cult. The natives build dirt runways and airplane shapes out of wood because they don't know what an airplane is or how it works.

They don't know what funny means so they try to copy the structure and shape, when what they should take from The Office is that talent can turn even the most boring uninteresting setting into comedy.

The writers and a few of the actors on The Office could make like dentistry or say entomology funny. It had nothing to do with being in an office.
