My lefty friends are really obsessed with the idea of mocking or trying to disprove that there are immigrants eating cats and dogs. I've had a few claim it was started by an evil racist group, that President Trump is full of himself, and that it's completely absurd to believe it.
There are people on the right posting pictures of immigrants killing ducks in a local pond, being arrested for eating a cat on the street, and more. The entire left is acting like it doesn't exist. They've made memes on the weirdness that anyone would think such things are possible.
This disconnect is just as strong as when CHAS existed and I was told it either didn't exist or was a peaceful pure amazing experience.
Except that the Bible has explicit passages undoing the earlier prohibitions on such foods, while Islam has no repeal on the dog stuff. I worked with a Muslim once and there was a dog in the office that happened to be in her path. She needed me to call the dog off to the side because she couldn’t/wouldn’t touch it. Was she an extreme case? Maybe, I have no idea. But the fact remains that the lines used to call dogs unclean do exist without explicit contradiction, many Muslims do observe them, and they are codified into law in some Islamic countries. By contrast, I’m not aware of any sect of Christianity that says “no pork.” Your comparison really doesn’t work.
I think the sect of Christianity that doesn't eat pork is Jews for Jesus -- or Christians who come from a place where pork is culturally unclean. Where does the Bible say you can go ahead and eat pork now?
