Because the last time Goku was turned into a kid went down so well. 🙄
I never liked dragon ball. Once the hair turned yellow, they all looked the same.
Repeat ad nauseum.
don't forget the 12 straight episodes of nothing but:
10 mins of recap of screaming at the sky
10 mins of screaming at the sky
10 mins of 'next on' as they tease some more screaming at the sky
My friend tried to get me into it when I was a kid. I gave it a good honest effort. But I've never seen so much nonsense filler. Drop the bloody giant sky ball of blue fire already! Stop yelling about how impactful it is going to be, and show us that.
The DBZ anime is unwatchable. It could be made watchable by salvaging 3 to 5 minutes of content per episode and do an abridged version.
The manga was fun as a kid / young teen.
They essentially did that with Dragon Ball Z Kai.
I liked the earlier series when they were young. There was a lot more variety in the stories beyond just training and fighting and upgrading for another fight as in DBZ+.
Main thing I remember from Dragon Ball (before Z) was that it had a baffling running joke where people shoot kid Goku. Like.. a lot. CONSTANTLY. At first it was obviously to show off how unkillable he was, but after a while it starts to look like the things are fucking worthless. Like, no one was BS strong yet, yet all the main cast were for some reason utterly bullet proof.
Oh and it took every opportunity it could to sexualize Bulma. The 16 year old. FFS she flashes beaver in like the second episode.
Why is everyone small at the beginning? We just going to let that fly by with zero explanation?
The premise of Daima is a demon de-aged the cast
Dragon Ball ended with the legendary Super Saiyan and Lord Frieza fighting to the death on Namek. Neither warrior nor the planet survived, so fierce was their battle.
Ah yes. the famous "5 minute" war.
When the anime caught up to the manga at the absolute worst possible time, forcing them to stall.
Also, screw this opinion, the Cell and Buu sagas had some great stuff, even if Toriyama was seriously burned out by the latter.
Namek saga was truly peak
