In addition to this, where they essentially didn't acknowledge her achievements at all, and she was beginning to be stressed out because of pressures put upon her by management, Michi (formerly Mika Melatika of Nijisanji's former Indonesian branch) visited the HQ in Japan after Niji folded the Indonesian branch into the main JP branch and saw her silver Play button for hitting 100k subscribers.
Nijisanji doesn't give their talents their 100k Play buttons, they keep them as trophies in their office, and they wouldn't even let her take a picture of it, and after making a very light gesture miming taking it off the wall, they threatened to kick her out of the building if she even did so much as pretend to do that again.
Basically it levels the Playing field so that 3/10 girls who weren't handed everything in life and had to grow an actual personality to get by in life can compete with vapid ethots without showing their face.
That, and because of the nature of the medium you basically have to play video games, which is an easy way to impress nerds on the internet, especially if you rise above basic competence while being female.

Eh, knowing a lot of different female V-Tubers alt accounts/past lives/whatever you wanna call them at this point, that's not that true tbh. There's a lot more 7-10s, and a lot of why some of them chose VTubing is for the sake of security/making sure no one stalks them, and considering many of them go to conventions still wearing face masks even though COVID's long gone and still have creeps follow them, I get it.
Also, sometimes it is more fun to just play a character instead of yourself. I have considered taking up VTubing as a side way to make money, and while the personality would just be my normal one played up a bit, it is still would be playing it up.
The one thing I would tell myself if I had a time machine is to take a gap year before college and use that gap year to get a part time job and become a vtuber, because that was six years ago before Hololive even had a second generation, and the market back then was way less saturated. I might not end up becoming the biggest, but I at least have a shot + knowing how my life has gone on since then, the main things that would've changed is that I would have moved out of mom's house during lockdown and wouldn't have taken any COVID shots at all.
But back to vtubing in general, in terms of models and such, getting one of those 'general use' ones just to see how you feel about streaming before commissioning your own model goes a long way, but I'm sure you probably have already done most of that research

Yeah, this is very much just a "Fun idea to make some side money doing something I was already doing anyway by playing games on the weekends." (since I have a full-time manufacturing job and am too beat after work to really do any long-term stream). There is still a lot of me doing the research and looking into how it would work or what I would need to pull it off.
It was mostly just an inspiration on the grounds that 1) I have seen some people say there is a niche in the strategy game market that not a lot of Vtubers have covered, which is my favorite genre of game. And 2) It was just a fun idea of "Aggressively American, Teddy Roosevelt but as an actual bear man" sort of character that I had in my head.
It would still probably be something I would not seriously start looking into until next year at the absolute earliest.
It is funny how Nijisanji's ongoing collapse in terms of reputation is contrasted with Vshojo's rise in reputation. There haven't been any big dramas for a while now, especially since Matara joined.
I think the EN branch is on borrowed time as it's just a matter of when it folds. Then wonder where we'll get our black company Vtuber events from as I think Wactor is mostly gone.
If I remember right 3 so far, one more is independent but being helped by Vshojo, got 4 who were the original cast, two formerly independents, one formerly of VOMS project and one formerly of Hololive/independent.
That's the current roster if I remember, as think they're having auditions again. I just see clips and glad they collab more with guys like Heavenly
Speaking of Hime Hajime, I didn't know she was sydsnap until like 2 days ago, mainly because I had never come across any clips of her at all. I watch a lot of Gigguk too, so I'm shocked I never figured it out to be honest.
It also helps that I've never seen Bubi's model, only IRL Connor/CDawg, so I wouldn't even know Bubi considering even his friends in Holo like Mori refer to him as Connor

Who?
Conceptually I don't understand VT at all.
Like, at foundational level I go right into Bob mode.

Think wrestling but with anime characters, that's essentially the best way I have to describe it to people.
Same. Every time vtuber shit comes up, I am reminded that I am now an old curmudgeon. Kids are dumb.
I will let that slide as long as you concede that Psy has a couple catchy tracks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCQ3iJLuw8M how dare you insult the best band, the Moranbong Band
Careful mate, you don't want to mention either
One has yandere fans so bad they'll cut their hair off for their idols
The other is this
Ok but I ain't checking your mail and better stay away from any Starbucks for a while lol

How many VShojos are former Nijis at this point?

Matara, Kuro and Michi are former Niji,
Ironmouse and Geega were part of the original cast.
Henya is formerly Pikamee of Project VOMS
Kson is formerly Coco Kiryu of Hololive.
Haruka was a new addition, I dunno the rest of VShojo
Nah Geega was later after Henya if I remember.
Zentreya, Project Melody, Froot and Ironmouse are the original cast still working there....
..forgetting someone, loud comes to mind, oh yeah Hime Hajime exists...kinda.

Which is funny as she's the worst kept secret, even SHE sometimes let's it slip and in collabs you'll have at least one person saying 'Sydney' lol
Her and 'Bubi' are just openly known
