It looks like the primary wound came to the left side of the suspect's face, and most of the blood we can see on the right side of his face was just drained from his ears nose and mouth, depending on what position he was laying in.

It's still not clear to me who shot him. Some people are saying the counter-sniper team shot him, but they were carrying (what looks like) .308 bolt action rifles. The gunfire originally sounded like 4-5 aimed shots, with another several shots of counter-fire on the assassin. It sounded more like semi-automatic gunfire, rather than bolt-guns.
