When the artist John Romita jr was interviewed about his upcoming run on the Punisher he said he was looking forward to it, mainly because Frank Castle was one of the very few Italian American protagonist characters in the Marvel 616 universe. They've had all characters of all kinds of skin-colors and ethnicities fighting crime, but Italians were almost universaly shoved into roles of Lowlife Scum (tm). Hell, even Ben Grimm was made jewish, despite his baby blue eyes.

LOL! I just typed Ben Grimm into Google and the top auto-complete suggestion was Ben Grimm jewish!
