An astonishing number of gen z dont even have a drivers license, somewhere north of 40%. To people of Generation X like me this is just unfathomable. No D/L means you can't go anywhere except by your own two feet, or by paying someone to take you there.
I actually know people in RL who have tried to sincerely argue in favor of car-less cities. They own cars themselves, of course, but they also think we would all be better off relying completely on public transportation or whatever.
I absolutely hate driving, due to putting up with obnoxious commutes for the past several years. But I also spent a good chunk of time unemployed and carless. I hated how restricting it was on my freedom. I got a lot of exercise, and it was a good experience for me overall, but I can't imagine going full time without a car.
Yeah this company is going to go bust fast LOL, serious point, when you know how much insurance is for anybody under the age of 40 it's completely understandable why this is the case. I would argue that discrimination against younger drivers is very real on a statistical level when it comes to insurance.
They base their fucking costs on extremely out of date statistics of back when retards would try to buy ancient sports cars and crash them frequently and they still post all of this crap up online as an 'explanation' for high insurance costs all over the internet when you search. Tons of articles basically gaslighting young drivers with tone deaf responses even though there are comments from people saying their children are being quoted shit like £5,000 a year or some other ridiculous figure.
This is why scooters are going to be the only option soon enough, but luckily it seems that car insurance companies are getting too greedy because now they've run out of young people to rip off they're jacking up the prices on Generation X which make up the bulk of drivers. The government will be forced to interfere with a problem they bloody created but likely a price cap of some kind will be the thing to do.
I know it will vary based on the jurisdiction but in the UK vehicle insurance is mandatory and you're fucked as a result if the prices keep going up because it's practically a necessity these days to have a vehicle of some kind. There could well be some credibility to the theory they're trying to force everyone onto electric vehicles if artificially making everything else more expensive. So far though electric is nothing more than a pipe dream and they're pretty useless but who knows what the nutter WEF types will try.
by civilized you mean mono-ethnic. people drive in "multi-cultural" societies and hate public transport because staying away from nogs, abos, pajeets, pakis, somalis, etc is absolutely worth the cost.
great examples with japan and netherlands, btw. proving my point

I'd love to live in a place where I could completely rely on public transportation that was as convenient and comfortable as my own vehicles.
Unfortunately, that place does not and will not ever exist unless I wanted to move to Japan or Korea.

Trains exist
Trams exist
Buses exist
Bikes exist
And lastly... Taxis exist
A civilized country is keen on that train and bike combo (see japan, see netherlands)
