Hey, that's my line! :P I'm about 13 hours into the game now (including 9 hours day 1), and the game's great, and if the dev keeps working on it, it's gonna be excellent. But it does have issues.
I don't have an answer for you but I'm curious about the game myself. I saw an ad for it when I was updating my graphics card and it's the first ad in a long time that sparked my interest.
Yeah definitely still an early release, but what is there seems to be relatively polished on the surface. I'm sure bugs are there but they'll get ironed out. Looking forward to seeing this passion project blossom over time.
Also worth mentioning that I've not really encountered many bugs at all, aside from a crash if I try restarting multiple times with a fresh new game. Probably just a simple memory overload. Which isn't even a serious inconvenience.
And silly me. I didn't even consider the possibility that specialized workshops might be made accessible through an upgraded house with "backyard" extensions. I never bothered to look it up until now.
I've been playing it, though I'm a relative newb (at the genre in general) so am learning as I go. It's definitely still in early release but what I do see is gorgeous. Everyone walking around is actually doing jobs and moving cargo around not just decoration. The camera let's you zoom all the way into the forest to watch your people forage or hunt.
I haven't even got to command my army yet and am excited to try it out.
And the fact it's a passion project by one guy just amazes me.
Closest example that comes to mind are the original Stronghold games.
Only in Manor Lords, combat focused gameplay looks like it'll be a little more optional, with diplomatic tools to avert and dissuade military attacks. And there's a lot more depth to the economy and civilian side of things in Manor Lords than Stronghold had.
I'd say a blend of combat in Total War with city builders such as Banished. There are elements of 4X as you spread your influence across multiple regions (and if the rulers of those regions have a problem with that then that's where the combat comes in).
Your city planning, economy and production chains aren't just about making money from trading or growing population but also producing the weapons and armor your armies will use in combat. Can't say if that's a new idea or not as I'm new at the genre but all the elements mesh extremely well so far

Settlers, You could also stretch it to ANNO aswell.
The Lords of the Realm 2 had some of these elements as well. I was thinking of mentioning it in my other comment, but figured it might be a little obscure.

This was exactly what I needed thank you!
"A game from one turbo autist with a dream" is probably the highest recommendation one can hope for in the modern era.

It’s provocative, really gets the people going

Runs quite smoothly and has a solid design and premise.
It's still in version... 0.6 or something though, so just be aware. There's a lot of gameplay routes that are currently incomplete and unavailable.

Aye, same here.

Is it a strategy game like civilization or a blend of genres?

Sounds cool! Thanks!
