I know I sound like an absolute classic hipster right now who's bitching about their favourite band going mainstream and acting like it's ruined but I'm really feeling empathetic towards those guys right now. I bring up Ukraine because it was funny how everyone with access to an internet connection suddenly had an opinion on it even though they obviously couldn't point to it on a map much like with Israel-Palestine.
It was this sort of thing that got me pretty red pilled on the commentating crowd because even people who should have known better to shut their mouths and at least do some studying first had to pump out their videos to meet the demands of the stupid keyword algorithms.
Same thing is happening with Fallout now and all of a sudden the fucking hair twirlers are pretending they love Fallout and videos are going to be pumped out left and right talking about how amazing the Fallout games are just because it hit the trending pages. This wouldn't be such a bad thing by itself because it would fade off eventually but now you've got these fuckers who are going to sit there trying to flex to everyone who the biggest Fallout fan is.
You know it's going to happen with Warhammer and the shills will be out in force next right? We've all seen it coming but I feel like the Warhammer bullshit is going to sting particularly hard. These people don't fucking have hobbies so they've got to go and ruin everyone else's and that goes for the people who aren't leftists as well.
Ohhhh fuck no, I don't want to see all the cosplaying noooo it just entered into my head what they're going to do for Halloween :(
Most people literally download their personality and hobbies from the mainstream media narrative.
I have them all beat by not having a personality.
But seriously, it's sad. I'd much rather be a little boring, but polite, kind, and well-liked, than try to force myself into some box because a new fucking TV show or fashion trend came out.
It is kind of funny that 'be yourself' is generally a leftist sentiment, and yet leftists are the phoniest fuckers around. I enjoy plenty of things, and I'll share those things with friends...but I'll never try and shape my personality - my self - around those things.
Leftists are losers, detached from reality...and fucking everything up for the rest of us.
I've fucking been there which is why I feel so bothered by how blatantly the leftists are trying to turn stuff gamer things into normie things through Amazon, it feels like a deliberate attack more than anything. They're doing it by killing what made it special.
It's all a deliberate attack.
I disagree. Many people do completely regurgitate with the TV man tells them, especially in blue hell holes and internet hug boxes, but most real life people I know don't do this. everyone I know has their own personality that is forged from their experiences growing up and their current likes and dislikes.
The problem is most people just simply don't pay attention, because they don't care enough. Ukraine war? the experts say it's all Russia's fault in that it is our duty to help Ukraine resist. Covid? it's apparently super duper dangerous according to our top scientists, better for us to be careful. Politics? I'll just vote for whatever candidate CNN or FOX News tells me to.
People hold these opinions very loosely, not because they are passionate, but because they don't care. they care more about themselves and their friends and family, as well as their careers or personal ambitions. To them, it's not worth paying attention.
This is why I think the fact that journalists and institutions lie constantly is the first and most important red pill. Once a person accepts that the surface narrative ranges from misleading to complete bullshit, whatever comes next will be much closer to the truth.
This is an acute insight into the problem. Me, myself, and mine is the attitude. People are capable of critical thinking to some extent when they're motivated, but most of the time they're not.
And to a good extent, they aren't really wrong.
Most of that stuff will have minimal direct effect on their life. The consequences will come, but not in a way that can be easily noticed if boiled slowly. Even if it does though, their opinion or thoughts on it won't effect it either way. They can be the maverick that doesn't comply with lockdowns, but it won't do anything but make their life harder and accomplish nothing else.
Now, we know that isn't fully true and the fact that everyone thinks that way is how they keep us from knowing our own power, but when you have a lot of other directly in your face problems and stresses in life its not really worth getting super invested in Ukraine or minor politics.
It makes sense how people end up that way, and also why the people who care way too much about this stuff are the ones with no real problems in life.
too true. It's important to prioritize yourself and your immediate surroundings in life for sanity.
