I assume they will have less profit but GW is raking in a lot of money. They can afford it. At most they will blame Ukraine/ Russia for the reduce sales. Kind of sucks but average consumers don't care
I question their ability to weather the storm. The whole point of Warhammer is unapologetic excess. Femstodes carves out the heart of the setting. The core customers are the guys who buy all the stuff and attract normie attention, so if you lose them, you're killing the golden goose.
I wish that to be true but I doubt it. They will move slowly, will let this simmer for a while and do nothing with female custodes for a year and then push something else. They're already branching out in to games and soon movies. They're moving away from war games as their main thing.
I understand AOS is a success despite having the equivalent of female space marines.
The Stormcast in AoS are hardly important compared to space marines. Warhammer is swimming with female warriors anyway, both in fantasy and 40k. The problem with femstodes is that they're messing with a male niche that has been explicitly male forever.
As for games and movies, lol. GW is historically clumsy with game development and production. Without goodwill from the lore, they've got nothing competitive. TV and movie wise they're even worse. Outside of that you're looking at Henry Cavill's 40k show, and he is a true fan so he'll hold their feet to the fire if necessary.
