I know we all get tired of meta posts, but this has been a complaint for ages.
Can we please simplify the rules and then enforce them equally and consistently? As is, we've had pretty sporadic enforcement, where bad stuff - porn, clearly bad faith trolling, and pedophilia advocation, to name a few recent standouts - have stayed up for around a week. Meanwhile, some much less offensive stuff, from established and active members, sometimes gets taken down immediately, which just stifles discussion. (And, no, I was not moderated, this isn't me bitching about something done to me.)
This isn't Reddit; we don't need these rules. We can simplify this all down to 'no porn, no advocating illegal activity, and if you're a handshake you don't have human rights.'
Always a good thing to remind about the mod logs.
Don't come here with human rights stuff, we are not the UN xD
Regarding the rules eh, simpler rules could lead to more power for the moderator in some extent, since at the end they do decide what is going. Not sure about a solution since if this forum would grow in size the will and theme could be easily changed.
There should be a public log of people who make excessive reports
Ah yes, the "don't talk about root causes or solutions" pair of rules.
BASED.
Rule 16 is Peddit tier "no bigotry" thinly disguised as something a teensy bit more reasonable. As for rule 2, there's a huge difference between "X deserves Y" and "I'm going to do Y to X", and rule 2 pretends that it's all the same. The guy running this place is an enemy, and that's why he doesn't enforce rule 14. Strictly enforcing rule 14 would be a net positive for the board's quality and it would go against DOM's mission to poison the place from the inside out.
It would be fine if pared down to “Do not make direct threats against a person”, but even that is likely too much.
