I'm not very familiar with Preddit's history, but is it possible that Preddit was always majorly regressive and just hyped up "free thought" for internet culture, video games, atheism and anti-war (see: Ron Paul) stuff that just wasn't well represented in the mainstream in earlier times? Or perhaps the rot began to seep in after stuff like Occupy Wall Street?
