Speaking of carbon nonsense, it still cracks me up (and sort of terrifies me) that one of the new talking points is backyard gardens are bad for the environment. Backyard gardens! Do these ABSOLUTE FUCKING EVIL CHUCKLEFUCKS realize how...well, anything works?
Literally planting trees and plants is now bad for the environment, say environmentalists.
Good: Soylent made from GMOs on a farm powered by diesel, treated with more Haber-Bosch products than a British trench.
Bad: backyard gardening using heritage plants, no fuel and no chemicals.
Say it with me, children: Satanic inversion.
And sometimes actually carbon sinks that trap and utilize carbon for years or even decades.
Pretty much every serious study of regenerative agriculture has shown 2-3 pounds of carbon sequestered per pound of product produced. And that's when it's done on an industrial scale.
They need to be government sanctioned trees.
don't you see? backyard gardens take up precious water that belongs to the people! it's selfish to use public resources for personal decor!!!
in all seriousness, a backyard garden can have a negative environmental impact if some chuckle fuck decides to plant an invasive species and fails to contain it (looking at you, peppermint!). most cities already have ordinances against this.
