If anyone has read the Bible, Israelites often stray from God. It's their... fate, I guess. It provokes questions of free will that I don't have the answer to, but suffice it to say the evidence of their straying is documented. To the extent that modern Jews even represent the Israelites, they share that apparent compulsion.
And keep in mind many Jews did accept Jesus. They're called Christians now... Anyone calling himself a Jew still is one who rejected, short of a Jew-for-Jesus situation.
