It's to discredit him in the eyes of the multitude, which trusts CNN/MSNBC because as laughable as it is, it believes that they tell the truth. I know people who hate Blumpf who will strain to approve of this.
No. But then again, neither are the perpetrators of this hypocrisy. When you are preaching to the choir, "it doesn't stop them from being hypocrites" is not a particularly strong argument.
