Of course, Apple only did it to ensure fairness and "to protect users".
Nothing to do with those sweet 30% extortion fees.

Of course Epic says that, Tim wanted special treatment and got told he wasn't special.
Like, he is on record saying that he would have dropped all his complaints and law suits if given an exception just for his company. That's his words in court in front of a judge. At that point it doesn't matter how evil or monopolistic Apple is, you've admitted you have no principles and are trying to throw your "I'm so powerful you must cater to me" dick around.
Especially as in the same courtroom Epic also admitted that their entire strategy involved drumming up support by leveraging people with talks about philosophy and principles (which, as previously stated, they have none and are lying about) to pressure Apple, and others, to give them special treatment. As in, playing everyone for useful idiots.
Its one thing to want Apple to suffer because they probably deserve to lose regardless. But don't buy into Timmy's openly admitted propaganda while doing so.
The tragedy here is that you have to be a billionaire to fight for your rights and to become a billionaire you have to be a psychopath. If this 30% platform strangulation fee goes down, the world will improve. I don't care how selfish the motivation is, as long as it goes down. I don't care if Tim Epic and Tim Apple literally kill each other.
That's a fine perspective to take.
The point wasn't "Epic worse, they need to lose." Its that you don't need to swallow and parrot something that is admitted propaganda while doing so.
I have to concur with your analysis. I do tend to hate on Apple due to their shitty business practices a little more than on devs (Epic in this case, who btw are also dicks).
And Apple is absolutely deserving of any hate, their business practices need to be attacked to prevent a lot of industries from basically being under their thumb.
The problem is that Epic is not trustable in the slightest, and have openly said they will abandon all fight if given a good enough bribe, so using them to do so is not a good idea.
True, but who/what can we use then? Like with politicians, or any conflict involving the elites, power can only be checked with power.
As much as Apple is a nasty global corporation, the subversive Chinese are always trying to get more of a foothold in US markets where they can maximize their profit while fucking over our systems for control. Epic is one of these public-facing wedges that's causing the biggest stink. The Chinese economy is a fascist-style protectionist command economy: no one is allowed to do business within China except with national citizens and their shell companies, while the CCP (not really communist anymore) gets a slice, or maybe all, of the profit since all of their "citizens" are
propertyassets of the state. This here is really about Tencent not being able to completely dominate the gaming market, and both parties involved deserve ExterminatusJust force China to divest of Epic the way they're doing with Tiktok.
That's my issue with the TikTok stuff even when Trump tried to handle it after Congress balked at tariffs. China needs to be shut out on all sectors of influence.
What are you talking about? The CCP takes ownership of any business it wants and installs party loyalists. It is the literal definition of a centrally planned and administered economy.
The fact that they allow some "capitalism" at the edges (until they care enough to take it over) doesn't make it a non-communist country.
(And yes, I'm well aware that the US government does effectively the same thing, but at least they have to pretend that they don't, and can be taken to court over it. For now.)
Which bridges multiple government ideologies and is not exclusive to communism. Just because government stooges are in the positions of running the company, doesn't automatically make it communist.
To my understanding, there is no element of nationalism in-facing nor out-facing in communism. Only when they can't run the economy anymore does that change.
Yeah, well, you know Apple and buttons.
