This is actually a pretty measured and realistic take if you ignore OP's editorializing. Neither side can win, so a negotiated settlement of some kind is inevitable, and military aid is needed to improve your negotiating position. Everyone here seems to just be responding to the BS headline instead of taking the arduous journey of listening to a 2 minute video.
Sounds like Vietnam. The Americans wanted to create a North-South demarcation line like we had in Korea. Totally reasonable to send young American men to the meatgrinder for as long as it takes to secure a victory that isn't ever going to happen.
You got me to listen to the video and it's worse than OP makes it. He starts off with the establishment lie that Putin's goal was to take over all of Ukraine. So he's not backed down on that at all, he just knows it's no longer possible to trick the American public for infinite MIC dollars.
The real Freudian slip is at 1:07 "Whatever's left over of Ukraine, [Putin] wants it to be a country that is forced to remain neutral..."
NO SHIT
Then he continues on "...in his orbit and sphere of influence." which is what he meant to say, though what he's thinking is likely "outside America's sphere of influence".
> the establishment lie that Putin's goal was to take over all of Ukraine
Are you clowns still pulling the "kiev was a feint" card? Have you never seen any russian state media? Did you fall asleep during putin's hour long manifest destiny lecture to tucker carlson?
I don't see how you could possibly think this unless you had just woken up from a coma.
The establishment lie was that Russia invaded Ukraine to take over and install a puppet state, and if successful they'd possibly move on to other NATO countries. I have no doubt Russia would love to topple the government in Kiev and end the war that way if they could, but the main goal was always securing the eastern regions and Crimea.
And yes I did fall asleep during Putin's lecture but I'm not sure what that has to do with this.
Can you take a step back and think about how unhinged your comment looks? Two more weeks and what will be over? The war? Who ever claimed that? And why would you assume I think that? And what am I or would I be worrying about? Are you on crack?
Because you said "Have you been paying attention? The Ukrainians are getting a new asshole stomped into them as we speak." in response to "neither side can win". Given the plain meaning of words, you think russia can win and is winning right now. I pointed out the absurdity of this, which I think you know. The "two weeks" portion is a popular meme around bullshit political predictions - "two weeks to flatten the curve", "two weeks till trump overturns the election", "big announcement from q in 2 weeks", etc. Basically, I'm saying "if you think russia is winning, ok let's see them win".
But russia can't win, and you know this. That's why you got mad and frothed when I pointed out the absurdity it.

So in your scenario where putin topples the government in kiev, what's his next step?
Have you been paying attention? The Ukrainians are getting a new asshole stomped into them as we speak.
Ok, then I guess you have nothing to worry about. Two more weeks and it'll all be over, right?
