See, I'm trying to remember a time when this look wasn't a huge tell for how mentally ill the character and writers for said character were.
The closest I can remember was Jack from ME3 but 1. She was mentally ill from years of abuse by both Cerberus and after (though calmed down a lot in 3 especially if romanced) and 2. No hair dye and despite no boobs was actually a fit looking character.
I really can't think of a time when the ENTIRE look wasn't a warning flag for crazy, as it's like they took elements from every niche style and mashed them onto a bland frumpy character. Like if you removed the hair dye and put them on a Brazilian model then it might work or just had dyed hair without the shaved parting on an E-girl, then maybe just altogether, it looks as much a mess on the outside as what is probably a mess on the inside.
A punk girl used to just be a punk girl. Necromunda's House Escher and League of Legends' Vi aren't references to the modern leftist woman, they're references to what those modern leftist women are pretending to be.
I swear it's a skinsuit for them as they go into every community trying to skinwalk and subvert them and it's just this 'style' is the most popular as easiest for them to maintain with no effort.
The only one closer I think is cosplay but they get drowned out by the onlyfans/Ethot crowd who do it better.
