It's funny. I was worried that the Talking Flowers were going to be this in Mario Wonder, but they turned out to be pretty lovable in the end.
Wheatley and GlaDOS will forever be the peak of color commentary characters in games like these. It's a shame that writing in general has decayed to this degree....

What hurts me is this game could have been otherworldly like ICO game by being atmospheric and just dreamy and the dev thought it was a good idea to put millennial spin on it, it just pisses me off personally that it had to be the western dev that made the game. Everytime they have some good idea, they just ruin it. Maybe developer from East Europe could have managed to make it with charm.
I tried to find where this original dev came from. I found the name of this indie dev and based on the name, he is definitely from anglo-west. I don't want to just dismiss them with the broad brush but do they make this hard. Also the situation is so prevalent with the western dev, there is a video about the whole topic made by youtuber from Australia of all the places.
Well I'm not talking about dialogues found in Atomic Heart neither Kingdom Come Deliverance which I want to describe those games as the dev inserting their own brand of humour. I'm talking about more along the ones found in Pathologic and its sequel.
If you look at typical Eastern European games, you think of Metro, Stalker and Factorio where the atmosphere seems lonesome and gritty. I like to think in the case like Atomic Heart, the game is kinda memorable despite being Russian made, its setting is relatively bright and the dialogue almost identical to marvel quips. I mean inserting the latter didn't do much favours to the dev in the end but if you compare all other East European games, it's sort of unique. So if you check the game Pathologic, you can tell the game atmosphere feels oppressive and dark.
Context? Why would anyone bother posting context? Surely we're all a hive mind and know exactly the same things so when someone drops a random clip of an unidentified game with an unidentified streamer making unintelligible commentary we all just innately know what's being referenced. No context necessary, it's all just so obvious that it doesn't need any!
This kind of shit is one of the bigger reasons I couldn't finish Subnautica 2. The girlboss protagonist would never shut up and let you take in a new environment. Couldn't even eat something without some kind of commentary
