Deepfake technology, with the advent of cheap and readily available image generating AI, is really a big threat to the internet, though.
I've you kept up on the developments, Midjourney 6 can now produce believable '/r/roastme' pictures. It can generate Instagram pictures. Or Tinder profile pics. Simulate backgrounds. And I've seen the NSFW output of Stable Diffusion - we're really entering the era of everything on the internet is fake.
Facebook ushered in the era of hyper-exposure on the internet. "Let's post all our private info and let Big Tech harvest everything about our personal lives, teehee." And now we're entering the age of verisimilitude.
Not only that but using ChatGPT API literally any half competent dev can create a believable chatbot and send it anywhere on the internet. There is no way to know you're talking to a real person anymore, and who knows how long the US spy agencies have been doing that shit.
