I always considered Kraftwerk to be the Godfathers of Techno. I know early 80s had techno out of Detroit but I always considered Kraftwerk to be the founders
Yeah, Detroit popularized the name, but Kraftwerk had already invented the form. Something the early Detroit artists themselves recognized even if the historical revisionists don't.
Yep. I love early techno and “electric funk” and it was through them that I looked up Kraftwerk because a lot of early techno artists cited them and the song Planet Rock samples Trans Europe Express and Numbers. Made me go out and buy (now downloaded) all the Kraftwerk albums
